When the seasons change, sometimes there’s that weird period of time where it’s not quite warm enough to wear summer clothes, but also not cold enough to be bundled in our winter coats! Figuring out what to wear in those in-between seasons is key to looking amazing, without people looking at you like you’re crazy for wearing shorts and sandals in 45°F weather. You can always tell in Chicago when its sunny and above 45°F because EVERYONE is outside in shorts, summer shirts, and not wearing a jacket! The excitement is definitely warranted… however 45°F and sunny still means some sort of jacket and warmer clothes! You don’t want to be that girl out on the town in a skirt, tank, and sandals when the sun goes down, no matter how short of a walk it is to your next destination… am I right?!
A few staple things that I have in my wardrobe for these confusing weather times of year are peep-toe boots, cold-shoulder tops, and light weight sweaters and jackets! All of these are great for making sure your staying fashionable – and allow you to show a little skin without sacrificing being cold!
Peep toe boots and perforated boots are the best, and they’re a super cute way to welcome in the warmer weather! They allow your fresh pedicure to peek through, while still keeping your feet covered. They are the perfect transitional shoe for going out with your girls, having dinner with your mate, and are even classy enough for the office. They’re great with jeans, dresses, and even shorts on those slightly warmer days! Pair them with a light sweater or a long sleeve top and you’re good to go! Personally, I love Sole Society booties! I have a few pairs of them because they’re affordable, durable, and most importantly sooo comfy. Did I mention they have TONS of varieties, and they’re all super cute and come in so many colors?!? I can walk around all day without any pain or discomfort. Click on the photos to shop!
On that note – get a comfortable light weight sweater that you can wear with any color! You can wear that new tank you’ve been dying to show off, but cover up when you need to venture outside. Perfect replacements for heavier coats – and easier to carry around once you’re inside. I love the one I’m wearing here! It’s thick and chunky but has an open weave pattern that allows some breeze through!
Cold shoulder, and off the shoulder tops are my absolute favorite right now. They are on trend and allow a little of skin to poke through without having to wear a tank! Just a nice reminder that warmer days are around the corner. They’re the best tops for any kind of weather, but especially for this time of year! Below are a couple of my favorites I’ve recently purchased at great price points!
For a more casual look, invest in a pair of cute slip on shoes. Whether its a mule, or a sneaker, or an espadrille (so in right now)! They’re ideal for daytime and more casual events, and you can easily take your look from day to night by swapping them out for one of your booties!
