YAY! First post of a new series and I’m so excited to keep sharing all through August! Every Tuesday of this month, I’ll be showing you how to tank a summer staple… and transition it different way’s into the fall!
Each year… I feel like I spend one whole weekend packing up all my summer clothes under my bed, and making room for all the fall and winter clothes in my closet. However, there are so many pieces that you don’t have to classify as “summer” and can keep in your closet all year round! Dresses, tanks, t-shirts, cami’s – all can be worn as great layering pieces as we move to the fall and winter seasons.
Kelly… it’s August and still super hot…. yes, I’m aware! However summer is winding down and before you know it, my favorite season will be here and it’s out with the sandals and tanks, and in with the booties and sweaters! YAY… I love fall in Chicago. Stores will also start their summer sales, and will be bringing in all the fall favorites to their sites. Thankfully, I took advantage of the Nordstrom half yearly sale… and have already stocked up on all my fall and winter favorites to push me through two season of clothing!
This little dress is a perfect example of a transition piece. One, it’s super comfy and stretchy. A standout on it’s own, but also can really transform into a new outfit with the right added pieces. It can be dressy for a date night, or casual for the office or a casual night out with friends. This first look I’ve just paired it with some simple heels, and a cute bag. So easy, comfortable, and chic for where ever you’re headed to. Amp it up with some fun statement earrings to give it a little more spice! This little blue dress is slinky and fun… but not just for summer! It’s only $ 23 currently – on sale!
My second look is an everyday look as we head into fall! I’ve paired it with a pointed toe flat that has a little embellishment on it, and a chunky warm fall sweater. I can actually wear this to work with my office dress code. It’s stretchy so it can be pulled down for an appropriate length, and the sweater covers the areas where it may look a little too tight! You could also swap your flats for a cute bootie! Rock your best tote and you’re ready for work, or just wear for a casual everyday look. There are so many great longer length sweaters for this type of look.
Another way you could wear this is super casual with some leggings and denim jacket with sneakers. Such a versatile little dress – but no need to hide it in storage through the colder months!
