Transition (Thurs)day: Stripe Long Cardigan

Delayed two days on this – weather and shipping complications! However, I’m so excited to share this week’s post with you! This cardigan has been a staple in my closet for over a year! It’s lightweight, hangs perfectly, and can be worn so many different ways. Sometimes I feel when I buy a patterned cardigan or sweater that it’s hard to wear it a lot, because everyone will remember it… we’ll I’m here to help change your mind about that! Here are FIVE ways – to rock this cardigan (or any cardigan you already own) with different pieces of clothing.

Ok first lets talk about this cardigan. It comes in this white with black stripes, and the reverse – black with white stripes which is currently on sale, as well as about 10 other solid colors! It does run true to size – however I got a Small Petite. I did order the XS first – and it seemed very long to me. The petite worked better for the length, otherwise order your normal size! Cardigan is linked below!

There are two bonus ways below NOT included in the original photo! Ok let’s go…

I went pretty much all casual looks for this round! Let’s face it – thats where I live and feel most comfortable! First up is leggings and a tunic tank. Is there anything better and more comfortable to wear? My fav leggings- seriously these are the best! Keep you sucked in and toned looking without cutting off your circulation! They are a bit of a splurge, but totally worth every penny. They have a few different styles so I linked a couple for you! I’m wearing a small! My tank is a tunic tank from Shop Red Dress! It’s so affordable and so soft! I love the length and the button detail. Will be wearing this all summer long! Also comes in white if that is better for you, and I am in a size small. Throw the cardigan over both these great pieces, rock your fav leopard sneaks, and you have an easy chic casual look perfect for everyday!

Leggings – Spanx $98, Tank- Shop Red Dress $22 , Cardi – Nordstrom $68, Sneakers- Steve Madden $49.99, and my Backpack- Calpack $78 linked similar ones too!

I love these army green loose fitting shorts! So cute with just a tank or tee tucked into them- and with this cute cardigan layered over them! I’ve paired them here that exact way! They’re so comfortable, great price, and have pockets! I’m wearing a size 2 for reference and they run TTS! They’re from amazon and available with prime ship! I wore my woven flats for a chic summer look, and my straw bag! Such a cute look that is easy to repeat with any cute cardigan! This tank is on sale this weekend 40% off and it’s the perfect layering cami!

Tank- Expresss $22 – 40% off today, Shorts- Amazon $23 prime ship, Cardi- $68 Nordstrom, comes in 8+colors, Flats- Target $24 and my Bag- Shop red dress $34!

This next look is another casual style- shocker! I default to casual over fancy any day. It’s where I’m most comfortable and feel my best! These jeans are a new fav! I love any jeans with a button fly! Just enough detail and distressing on these. I love the big cuffs on the bottom too! Size down one in these. Paired them with my favorite Madewell tank top! These are on sale right now with code SPRINGFLING 30% off! Making it $12! I’m wearing an XS, as this brand runs a little large. Just rocking my fav studded sandals to give this look a little bling! I’ve linked similar ones as these are from last season, and the new version!

Sandals- Steve Madden, linked similar ones – Tank- Madewell $12, linked others too, and my Jeans- Shop Red dress,$44

BONUS LOOK #1: grab your favorite pair of white jeans and a chambray top and your casual look is ready for a perfect sunny day! I love this look, and it just screams summer. I always need sleeves! Seriously always cold even when its 100 degrees outside, ha! I love that a cardigan can be a jacket – and this on is perfect because it’s so lightweight. The pop of blue adds the perfect amount of color to this mostly white look!

BONUS LOOK #2: rock this cardigan over a dress! The perfect alternative to a coat and also perfect to wear in the office! Maybe not this exactly slinky denim dress to work – but any tee dress or office type dress would work too! I just love this look – and wear this cardigan over my denim dresses, white, grey, red, pink, black… really any color looks great under this cardigan! I paired with with a pair of ankle strap espadrilles which are so fun for summer. Linked a bunch of similar pairs below!

Transition Tuesday: Ruched Dress!

We’re back with round two… and this time I’m coming at ya with a little ruched dress! You would NEVER think buying something this unique that you could create this many different looks, but you can! I’m obsessed with this dress. The fit is so stinking cute and I’m just loving the check print. The top is really loose and has some room due to the scrunching of the fabric, so whether you’re more flat chested or bigger busted – it will look flattering on anyone! The bodice has some lime green stitching on it which gives it some extra POP! I just love the ruffle at the bottom and you wont have to worry about this dress moving around on you – this baby stays in place!

My first look is just pairing it with a flat sandal and tossing on your fav jean jacket. So easy and so chic with any dress. Run errands, go to lunch, meet up with your girls… it’s a no hassle easy look that you cannot mess up! My sandals are a much more affordable version of the Tory Burch $200 sandals – they come in four colors and are only about $20 – they’re sold out on amazon but they will come back in stock! They run TTS and are really comfortable.

My second look is so fun and creative! I actually folded the bodice in half and made it into a tank top. Left the ruffle hanging out at the bottom and now your dress it a shirt and so cute! Not all dresses will do this obviously, but if the body is tight enough you can, or try tucking it into your jeans! I’ve been able to do this with a few dresses and it just gives you more options for when you’re styling your closet! Paired it with a pair of gladiator sandals and you don’t need much else to be a standout!

Third look is just wearing the dress as is with your favorite pair of heels. Clearly I would add a little clutch to this look, but for these photos I left the bag out! This dress just hugs in all the right places and is so cute on it’s own. I love the check print, and the little bit of green gives it some color up close! I’m wearing a small in the dress, probably could have gone up to a medium for a not so snug fit, but it works!

Last look is so fun! Take your favorite sweatshirt and just throw it over the dress. So great if you’re sitting on a patio, or having drinks in your neighbor’s backyard! Pair with some sandals or your favorite sneakers and your dress now looks like a skirt and no one would know the difference if you didn’t tell them! So this dress is a dress, a top, and a skirt all in one. For $59 – that’s money well spent! Shop this entire look by clicking on the photos below!

Transition Tuesday – One Tee Four Ways!

So excited to be doing these posts again! The month of April I’ll be styling a piece of clothing three or more ways on the blog. This is one of my favorite things to do – and it got away from me when it was super cold outside – but I love showing you how to style one item of clothing multiple ways! This helps give you ideas, shows you how to stretch your budget a little, and carry clothes into multiple seasons.

To start, I’m showing you how to wear a fun graphic tee four different ways! I love a good graphic tee – adds a pop of flare to your look and you can find any quote you want! This tee says good vibes which I love, in bright orange and yellow! It’s from Red Dress Boutique and I’m wearing a small. If they’re out of your size, it will restock – so just ask for an email alert!

First look is just a simple with some dark jeans. I added some fun earrings and knotted it in the front. This is a much more fun way to wear a tee, and gives you a waist and a little shape. I paired it with my favorite platform wedge to dress it up a little. You could easily wear any shoe with this look to dress it up or down!

My next look is this adorable skirt combo! This is also from Red Dress Boutique and under $50! it’s so cute and actually comes with a matching crop top if you want the full set! I’m wearing a small in the skirt – its a little big on me, but still works it just sits a little lower which is fine. I tucked my skirt in and wore the same wedges that I wore with the jeans. You could also toss on a cute jacket over this! These bold stripes are so fun and match the text on the tee!

This next look is jeans again – but this time white! I love white on white. Very bright and crisp for spring and summer. I threw on my light denim jacket and some funky sandals to complete this look. These white jeans are also from the same boutique and they are so comfy and soft. I’ve washed them and dried them and they are holding their shape. They’re also really high waisted and the button fly detail makes them perfect for any top! I’m obsessed! I’m wearing a size 1 – I went down a size due to how high they sit. This is my favorite look of all three because I just love a good denim jacket!

The last way I styled this tee is with shorts and a long red cardigan. Since this shirt is so bright – it’s fun to add a little color to is that is in the same family! I love this red cardigan – I have it in white and black stripes, and also a beige. It’s a perfect fit and length. I wear a small petite. I typically don’t wear petite in anything, but the length was better for me and the sleeves are still long enough! Otherwise I would get your normal size! These shorts are my favorite and are such a classic cut with a little distressing! They run TTS. You can shop all these looks by clicking on the photos!

I’ll be back next Tuesday with another fun transitional post!

Tuesday Transition: 8/28/18

Happy Tuesday! Skipped the Tuesday Transition last week due to my birthday falling on a Tuesday – and doing a cake post instead! Happy to be back this week with the cutest stripe sweater worn three ways! You all know I love a good stripe sweater… and this one is so cute and under $50! It’s cream, with black, blush and grey stripes… so it can be worn with so many things! The length is also perfect… long enough for dresses, jeans, leggings… but also looks cute over a pair of shorts. I’m wearing an XSmall.

My first look is casual and can be worn daily! Classic grey tank, with a cute slightly distressed pair of shorts! I’ve paired it with a neutral shade of wedges and my little backpack. This tank is Madewell and can be worn all year round. Great under any kind of sweater, and works perfectly as a base layer for any jacket or blazer as well. In tanks I get an XSmall… but in their t-shirts I get a small. I love this look because it’s so versatile and casual enough for a low key day, but also cute enough for a day excursion or fun lunch with friends.

My second look is also so easy and fun! A classic black dress and some neutral heels. I choose my grey BP slide on mules with a peep toe. I love any peep toe shoe this time of year. They’re THE transition shoe! Almost a boot, but also a sandal – amen!  Perfect for that in between weather and can also be worn with anything! This little black dress is actually a beach coverup, but works great as a layer under this stripe sweater. The little knot at the bottom gives a great added detail. You can do this with any little black swing dress that has some extra material at the bottom. Will also give the bottom of the dress a little shape, and allow your curves to be hugged a little. This little bag I posted yesterday and it’s literally SO great. Another piece that can be worn as a clutch but also a crossbody! Under $50 and comes in a few colors.

My third look will literally be my fall/winter wardrobe. Jeans, long sweater, and cute cami or top with boots. These boots are the perfect beige color and go with everything. I snagged them during the Nsale, and while they’re a splurge full price, they’re comfortable and go with a lot – so they’re worth the investment. Just saw they are on sale for $90 again so grab them while you can! Any similar boot will work with this look though! Any color cami, and color boot, and bag combination will be adorable with this sweater. Dark jeans, distressed, medium tone… all will give this third look a different twist and can be modified for any event. I love this look for work. My office is business casual and with some cute jewels, it’s perfect for work!

Tuesday Transition: 8/14/18

Alright… I posted this little body suit last week, but it’s also my pick for the second Tuesday Transition! Wohoo! Still on sale and super adorable styled so many ways!

This first look is a classic pair of white jean shorts! These Levi’s have been on repeat all summer. I love them and they are so comfy! Toss on a jean jacket to keep it casual, and your favorite pair of tennis shoes. This is perfect for brunch, running errands, meeting up with friends… anything really!

The second look is my part look! These shoes! OMG they’re so perfect for a night out and dancing! They also just went on MEGA sale for $23!!! I’ve simply paired them with white jeans and a gold bag… and the look is complete for a night out with your sig other or girl friends!

My third look is another pair of denim shorts, this time a medium shade. I’ve paired them with my favorite white wedges, and a long linen blend cardigan in a beige shade that matches the stripes. This is so perfect for when we get a little chill in the air. You may not want to wear pants yet, but need a little extra warmth, so this light weight sweater does the trick!

Last look is the best… because fall is my favorite time of year! Sweaters and booties…. YASS! I want this weather all year round. These booties were part of the #nsale, but are definitely worth the full price tag. Great color and the heel is not super high so they’re comfortable to walk in. They have a cute zipper up the side and will be great with ankle cut jeans like the one’s I’m wearing, or a cute dress too! This sweater is also worth the splurge. It’s the softest thing ever and the fit is perfect. I’m wearing an Xsmall and just waiting for the grey color to come in stock so I can snag that as well!

DSCN0606_Fotor_Fotor_Fotor.jpgThese looks will work with your favorite tank or top! Shop the look by using the pictures below!

Tuesday Transition: 8/7/18

YAY! First post of a new series and I’m so excited to keep sharing all through August! Every Tuesday of this month, I’ll be showing you how to tank a summer staple… and transition it different way’s into the fall!

Each year… I feel like I spend one whole weekend packing up all my summer clothes under my bed, and making room for all the fall and winter clothes in my closet. However, there are so many pieces that you don’t have to classify as “summer” and can keep in your closet all year round! Dresses, tanks, t-shirts, cami’s – all can be worn as great layering pieces as we move to the fall and winter seasons.

Kelly… it’s August and still super hot…. yes, I’m aware! However summer is winding down and before you know it, my favorite season will be here and it’s out with the sandals and tanks, and in with the booties and sweaters! YAY… I love fall in Chicago. Stores will also start their summer sales, and will be bringing in all the fall favorites to their sites. Thankfully, I took advantage of the Nordstrom half yearly sale… and have already stocked up on all my fall and winter favorites to push me through two season of clothing!

This little dress is a perfect example of a transition piece. One, it’s super comfy and stretchy. A standout on it’s own, but also can really transform into a new outfit with the right added pieces. It can be dressy for a date night, or casual for the office or a casual night out with friends. This first look I’ve just paired it with some simple heels, and a cute bag. So easy, comfortable, and chic for where ever you’re headed to. Amp it up with some fun statement earrings to give it a little more spice! This little blue dress is slinky and fun… but not just for summer! It’s only $ 23 currently – on sale!

My second look is an everyday look as we head into fall! I’ve paired it with a pointed toe flat that has a little embellishment on it, and a chunky warm fall sweater. I can actually wear this to work with my office dress code. It’s stretchy so it can be pulled down for an appropriate length, and the sweater covers the areas where it may look a little too tight! You could also swap your flats for a cute bootie! Rock your best tote and you’re ready for work, or just wear for a casual everyday look. There are so many great longer length sweaters for this type of look.

Another way you could wear this is super casual with some leggings and denim jacket with sneakers. Such a versatile little dress – but no need to hide it in storage through the colder months!
